The International Holocaust Remembrance Day Commemoration
On Monday, January 27, B’nai Brith’s Director of Government Relations, David Granovsky, will deliver a short address during the International Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony in Ottawa—joining the rest of the world in honouring the victims of the Holocaust. Organized by the National Holocaust Monument Committee, the 2025 ceremony marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and death camp, which oversaw the systematic murder of over one million Jews.
This year, Holocaust Remembrance Day arrives at a particularly poignant and timely moment, given the disturbing rise of antisemitism in Canada and B’nai Brith’s ongoing efforts to combat it—including our recently released petition to ban the public display of the Nazi swastika and other Nazi symbols nationwide. The ceremony in Ottawa serves as a crucial reminder that Canada must never forget its commitment to never forget—to uphold the values of equality and tolerance and stand forever firm against the atrocities of the past.
