MONTREAL – B’nai Brith Canada has named Paola Samuel, a veteran journalist and community leader of Sephardic-Jewish heritage, as its new Regional Director for Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
“It is an honour to join Canada’s oldest human rights organization,” Samuel said. “Quebec and Atlantic Canada are experiencing some of the highest rates of antisemitism in the country. B’nai Brith Canada will continue to remain vigilant, monitor threats to our community, and engage with stakeholders throughout Eastern Canada.”
Fluent in both official languages, and a native speaker of French, Paola hopes to further B’nai Brith Canada’s outreach to Quebec and Atlantic Canada’s Francophone communities.
Paola’s career has spanned diverse industries. She began in broadcast journalism, with roles at CBS, CNN, and local stations in California. She later returned to Montreal to work at CBC Montreal and Global News, where she served as a reporter, anchor, morning show host, and producer. She later founded her own business focused on health, wellness, and mindset coaching.
In her most recent position, Paola worked in public relations and crisis management at Federation CJA, where she also co-hosted their community podcast. She continues to serve as a commissioner on the English Montreal School Board, representing Ward 3.
“I have absolute confidence in Paola,” said Henry Topas, B’nai Brith Canada’s outgoing director for the regions of Quebec and Atlantic Canada, who has held the post since 2021. “As we turn the page on this historic year, her leadership will be instrumental in advancing our mission throughout Quebec, Atlantic Canada, and beyond.”
